Privacy policy

How we handle your personal information. Last updated 26 August 2026.

This website is operated by Directory.com.au Pty Ltd (ABN 68 090 816 461), trading as Bathroom Renovation Quote. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you submit a quote brief or contact form we collect the information you give us: your name, phone number, email address, suburb and postcode, and the details of the renovation you are planning. We also record the IP address the submission came from and the time it was made, which we use to detect abuse of the forms.

We do not collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act, and we ask that you do not send it to us. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this site.

Why we collect it

To do the one thing you asked us to do: pass your brief to renovators so they can quote your job, and to contact you about that brief. We also use it to answer questions you send through the contact form, and in aggregate, non-identifying form to understand which parts of the site are useful.

Who we share it with

Your brief is shared with the renovators we match to your job so they can contact you and quote. Those renovators are independent businesses and become responsible for the information once they receive it, including under their own privacy obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share it with anyone who is not quoting your job, except where we are required to by law, or where a service provider such as our email or hosting provider processes it on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.

Storage and security

Submissions are transmitted over HTTPS and delivered by email to our operations address, and a short audit record is retained on the server. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

How long we keep it

We keep quote briefs and correspondence for as long as needed to provide the service and to deal with any dispute or complaint, and then for the period required by law. Separately, the form handler writes a short server-side delivery record for each submission (time, a per-message reference, the sending IP address and the recipient, but not the message body) and a log of submissions blocked as abuse. Those records are retained until we clear them and are used only to trace a lost enquiry or to investigate misuse.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request through our contact form, choosing "Privacy or data request", and we will respond within a reasonable period. Note that renovators who already received your brief hold their own copy, and you will need to contact them directly about that copy.

Overseas disclosure

We do not routinely disclose personal information overseas. Some of our infrastructure providers may store backups outside Australia; where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first through the contact form. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on this page is the current one, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
